The Theater
Our company is growing dramatically and has become the largest community theater in the four-state Northwest region. From its modest beginning at Annie Wright Kemper Center, to a church basement, then in 1995 to the Narrows Theatre which seats 360, TMP has rapidly grown into Tacoma’s premier musical theater company.
In November, 2002, TMP purchased the Narrows Theatre and its surrounding Narrows Shopping Center from the original family that built the center. In all, TMP occupies 63% of the Narrows Center and leases the remaining space to tenants.
In the Fall of 2007, TMP unveiled a major remodel that included taking over two of the rental units adjoining the theater and turning those spaces into an expanded lobby, with concessions and patron restrooms; and cast dressing rooms, green room and restrooms in the backstage area. Costume storage, set construction and rehearsals also take place onsite. Significant restorations and modifications to turn the old movie house into a viable space to present live theater productions are also being planned for the future.
